Seniors Group

Following a survey of Grange and Woodbine Estates in 2014 an inaugural meeting was held with a view to setting up a group to cater for some of the numerous requests and in particular a demand for daytime activity for those not already involved in existing activities. The Grange Woodbine Seniors Group was formed, and a Committee was established to organise Coffee Mornings and relevant events which included a variety of speakers, outings, shows and lunches. Over the past 4 years the Seniors Group has gone from strength to strength and the setting up of the Group has been an outstanding success. It has had a very positive effect in bringing the senior citizens of the area together and increase the feeling of a viable and close community. As a result it has increased the feeling of pride in the area and indeed in the community and has greatly helped to foster a feeling with all of our senior members of being an important and valued part of the local community.

We have been to so many places of interest throughout the city and country over the past years that is now becoming a challenge to find new places to include on our calendar, however with the prompting of an enthusiastic membership and an active Committee we will continue to keep the growing numbers entertained. We also had talks on many different topics of interest ranging from Gardening to History and Health matters to legal and safety issues. The highlights of each year are our Away Trip (4 nights), Christmas Party, Easter Bonnet and end of year Garden Party (May). Group meets every second Wednesday.

Through the Seniors Group a number of other activities have been set up and we are continuing to encourage involvement in group activity.
